PROBLEMS AND POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT

OF EASTERN MEDICINE IN THE REPUBLIC OF BURYATIA

Bashkueva Elena Yurievna – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Senior researcher of the Institute of Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Ulan-Ude, Russia). ORCID 0000-0003-2160-4711. E-mail: frombear@mail.ru.

Rinchinova Oyuna Sanzhimitupovna – Candidate of Historical Sciences, advisor to the Head of the Republic of Buryatia on oriental medicine, head of Ayurmedika LLC. ORCID 0000-0002-5331-8798. E-mail: rinchinova.o@gmail.com.

The article presents an analysis of the problems and potential for development of oriental medicine in the Republic of Buryatia. A comprehensive analysis was conducted, including a study of world and Russian experience, statistical data, sociological methods (observation, expert survey) and SWOT analysis. Two key institutions participated in the study: the state budgetary institution “Center for Eastern Medicine” (the only inpatient institution of this profile in Russia) and the private clinic OOO “Ayurmedika”. The results of the study revealed both problems and potential for development, and also made it possible to formulate practical recommendations for the development of oriental medicine in the region. A conclusion was made about the significant potential of oriental medicine in the region, which, however, is limited by shortcomings in public administration, material and technical support and personnel shortages. Successful development of regional oriental medicine directly depends on strengthening scientific, technical and investment cooperation with Asian countries, in particular, within the framework of the Russia – China – Mongolia economic corridor.
