The article presents the results of a roundtable dedicated to the 105th anniversary of A.G. Mitroshkina, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and the 75th anniversary of L. V. Shulunova, Doctor of Philology, Professor (Ulan-Ude, IMBTS SB RAS, February 26, 2026). It briefly highlights the life and scientific activity of the scholars, their main scientific works and contributions to the Buryat linguistics. It is argued that A. G. Mitroshkina and L. V. Shulunova were at the origin of the development of onomastics in the Baikal region. Their achievements are known not only in Russia, but also abroad. They have made significant progress in the study of Buryat anthroponyms, toponyms, zoonyms and cosmonyms, as well as in the field of onomastic lexicography.
